Final Blog Of 2011 - What Will 2012 Bring?

Well, here it is...the final blog for 2011 and the year on the bike. Obviously by next week's blog entry I will need a new title for the blog. As for my first year back on the bike in over a decade, I think my training went very well and I actually over achieved on the side of hours and miles. Now the racing side of the year was not as expected but the collision with the car in the MonTour 75 really did put a big snag in racing plans for all of June and parts of the late fall with a recurring back problem. After getting 3 rides outside in this unusually warm December week, here are the final workout tallies for 2011:

Training Totals
Week - 5 rides/ 164miles/7hours 44minutes/ 21.2mph
Runs - 3 runs/ 19miles/ 2hours 16minutes/ 7:10 per mile
December - 25 rides/ 777miles/ 34hours 46minutes/ 22.3mph
18 runs/ 98miles/ 11hours 41minutes/ 7:08 per mile
2011- 358rides/12396miles/ 574hours 26minutes/ 21.8mph
39 runs/ 212miles/ 25hours 40minutes/ 7:16 per mile
Combined - 397workouts/ 12608miles/ 600hours 6minutes

What is in store for 2012? I have been debating a return to triathlons at the same time I am not ready to give up on the bike racing either. It will be a hectic year but knowing my ability and potential in both I know I can have a successful 2012 in each sport. After a solid two months of getting my running legs back under me, I am ready to start to add some workouts into the running schedule. The big thing now is getting motivated to get into the pool. With two weeks till the teams return to campus, I have a not so hectic schedule to get into a good rhythm of triathlon training before school starts.

And of course, we cannot forget the EPIC event TdO '12! Some early conversations in coordinating event were held over the Christmas holiday!

TdO '12 and/or Kona!!!
